Dr. Marc White is a native of Lamar County and worked at Paris Veterinary Clinic throughout college. Upon graduating from Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1989, Dr. White returned home to practice at Paris Veterinary Clinic. He has been actively involved in organized vet medicine serving as the president of Northeast Texas Veterinary Medical Association and a six-year term as a member of the board of directors of the Texas Veterinary Medical Association. In 2004, he was recognized by his peers as “general practitioner of the year” by the Texas Veterinary Medical Association. His special interests are the challenges of complex internal medicine cases and orthopedic surgery. He and his well-trained staff operate the clinic with a client friendly atmosphere. He and his wife, Terry, share their home with Skeeter, a labrador retriever, and have a small beef herd. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, kayaking, and riding his tandem bike with his wife. He and his wife are actively involved in First Baptist Church. Dr. White and his wife have traveled to India and Mexico on church mission trips. On those trips, he provided veterinary care to a variety of livestock and small animals along with a few water buffalo. Sometimes working at specific sites in remote villages and other times riding a motorcycle to treat animals unable to reach the clinic sites in the villages. These trips utilize his talents, but more importantly give him a unique opportunity to share his faith. Dr White says, “Providing veterinary care to these impoverished areas also provides a source of income for the villagers by having healthier animals to market or a healthier source of protein for the families to eat. The small animals were treated for parasites that were contagious to the owners. We are extremely blessed in the US to have good diagnostics available for our veterinary care. In these countries very few resources are available.”
