Brenda

Bookkeeper, Staff Relief

After graduating from Colby Community College in 1976, Brenda worked at Bogue Animal Hospital East for 1 year.

She then worked at Colby Community College for two years teaching a kennel care program designed for those students wanting to apply to the Veterinary Technician Program and also to assist teaching in the Veterinary Technician Program. She then married Dr. Cowan and worked at the KSU Veterinary Hospital for 5 years while he was attending school. Her responsibilities included organizing and stocking surgery rooms, assigning students to surgery and insuring sterile techniques were practiced by students and visiting veterinarians. Although she did not work outside the home while her children were at home, she was never away from veterinary medicine, assisting Dr. Cowan outside of business hours.

She has trained 6 dogs for a Companion Dog title and 2 for Companion Dog Excellent. She especially likes the terrier breeds, not the easiest to train, but the ones who keep things challenging.

Brenda’s passion is to see the cat and dog’s place in God’s creation, enriching people’s lives and working at tasks that serve mankind. She loves to see dogs work at what they were bred to do, whether hunting, herding, search & rescue, service dogs or police dogs.

When time permits, she enjoys sewing, cooking, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.
