Hey, everyone! I know we haven’t talked in a while. But today’s my favorite day, because everyone gets to celebrate me and every other dog in the world!
Because dogs are so cool, I’ve included some awesome dog facts below. Hopefully these pique your interest and you can share them with everyone you talk to today!
One: Labradors are the most popular dog in the United States.
Two: Dogs see a lot better than humans at night.
Three: And they don’t see in black and white. They see in various shades of blue, gray and dark yellows.
Four: Dogs’ only sweat glands are between their paw pads.
Five: At the end of the Beatles’ song “A Day in the Life”, a high-pitched dog whistle was recorded by Paul McCartney for his sheepdog.
Six: Corgi is Welsh for “dwarf dog”.
Seven: The reason dogs curl up in a ball while they sleep, is because of an age-old instinct to keep themselves warm and to protect vital organs while they sleep.
Eight: Dalmatian puppies are born completely white and develop their spots over time.
Nine: George Lucas modeled the Ewoks from Star Wars after his family dog.
Ten: Whiskers are used as sensing devices; some dogs even use them to see if they’ll be able to fit into small spaces.
