Digital Radiology for Pets

At Cornerstone Animal Clinic, all of our radiographs are taken digitally. By using such an advanced diagnostic imaging tool, images can appear within seconds and the doctor is able to manipulate them, zoom in, rotate, and even write notes directly on the image. These radiographs are usually sent directly to Antech Imaging for interpretation by a veterinary radiologist so that we have the skill and knowledge of the specialist to make the most informed diagnosis and treatment plan for your pet.

We Can Handle Pet X-Rays On Site

Our vets will determine if an x-ray is necessary in your pet’s case and if so, we can handle the procedure on-site.

Benefits of X-Ray Technology For Our Vets and Your Pet

A digital X-ray is a non-invasive procedure that allows us to get a closer, deeper look into your pet’s condition that may not be visible from the outside. We use digital radiology to examine your pet’s organs as well as their cardiopulmonary, gastrointestinal, reproductive, and urinary systems. These X-rays can be used to determine if there are any broken bones, as well as the size, shape, and position of the organs. This is especially important as the size of some organs may be distorted if certain medical conditions are present.

If your pet ate something they weren’t supposed to or if your pet has cancer, dental disease, or a fracture, we’re able to see all signs of an emergency dental or medical condition right away. With this advanced technology, our animal doctor is able to help treat your pet right away.

What to Expect When You Bring Your Dog to Our Veterinary Clinic for an X-Ray

Our veterinary clinic can use X-ray technology to examine your dog and diagnose a number of issues. If you’re nervous about your pet’s welfare during the procedure, we have compiled a list of what to expect.

  • Prepare Your Dog: We’ll let you know what if any, advance preparation for your dog will need to be done before you arrive for your appointment.
  • Sedation: Proper positioning is critical during a digital X-ray. If your dog is calm, able to lie in a comfortable position, and not in very much pain, sedation won’t be necessary.
  • Safety: Dog X-rays are generally only used occasionally as a diagnostic tool. In moderation, this procedure should be perfectly safe.
